It sounds like you want to do electric fishing which is very damagine to the environment and is illegal in most areas. I will certainly not help you and I hope that no one else here does.

Perhaps you could take up cyanide fishing and poison yourself.

If you use a fish shocker from an aluminum boat, are you at risk of getting shocked yourself? Actually, fish shocking isn't quite as horrible as you might think, and I believe legal in some countries. The shock is meant to stun the fish, not kill like with explosives. Nor does it effect every living creature in that particular body of water. I don't remember the particulars, but it was on some PBS documentary a while ago. I'd guess that it would sort of depend on the equipment and implementation, as to whether its a good or bad thing. Wouldn't require a considerable wattage to kill the contents of a small pond or pool anyway? Something powered off a car battery isn't likely to have a huge impact, like explosives.

You wouldn't get shocked if you're in an aluminium boat because it would act as a Faraday cage. The only way you could get a shock would be to put your hands in the water or hold something conductive, that's not connected to the boat, in the water.

Alright, perhaps I'm wrong on this as far as the envirmental impact is concerned but it does sound very dangerous. I would suggest you go and buy some specialised kit rather than trying to lash up something yourself which could be deadly.

    Default Fish shocker

Fist shockers are prohibited in about 90% of all the countries on this globe. They are also prohibited in Thailand. Nevertheless they are being sold - good for nothing but shocking yourself.

Here is my advice: for small ponds use flashbangs, for bigger ones use mines and for lakes use 500lbs bombs.

Hey guy some of you are being very critical. I am not doing this to hurt fish. By the way it doesn't even work on small fish. And yes it is illegal in most states. The shocker that it would like to build is very small smaller than a skoal can. It has three wires coming out of it 2 go to the battery the third attaches to 40' long pease of 10 gauge wire and pease of chain and drags on the bottom of rivers and creeks. It shoots 30 pulses a second. and only affects the Large catfish that lurk in the deep muddy water. I just would like to know what makes it work and what it take to build one..
