Hi,

is there a way of trying to find out what IC is in an particular circuit i have, the IC at the top has been rubbed so cant see what it is? Is there anyway? its only a small circuit with a few zenors, caps and resistors with 3x c1815 transistors which are ..

the ic itself is 14 pin, and pins 4 is linked to 12, 5 is linked to 11, and 6 is linked to 10 if that helps?

basically, its a small box unit, which you then plug inline with a stock ECU unit for an active spoiler on a car, on the car the active spoiler unit has a button that you can press to manually make the spoiler come down but only when the car has power but not started so last key turn before starting car, but with this unit, it allows you to manually control the active spoiler from that switch even when its running, as the only other time the active spoiler comes down is when you go above 60mph, and then goes back up once dropped below 60mph.

Even Better would be to Draw up a Schematic of What you can, Showing Where the wires all go.
(Example: to Ignition Switch, Ground, etc.)
Also show all IC Pin Connections.

From the way you describe its hookup, it could be a bridged dual-circuit device ( op-amp, comparator, amplifier, regulator or generator) or a transistor package.

Is there a model number or brand on the PCB that we might be able to find the service manual for?
Doubt it, but it's worth a try.

hi,
One way I use for hard to read ic code lettering is to lightly breathe on the ic, so that a fine mist forms on the ic surface.

Tilt the ic at different angles under a bright light, quite often the lettering becomes visible for a while.

I know it sounds disgusting, but it often works.

Also used the same method on old radio/TV valves [tubes to our American cousins].
