Default AC Power Supply

Hello all!

Please forgive my ignorance, but I have a very simple question.

I need to build an AC power supply, producing around 18-24V and 2-3A, to feed a capacitive discharge unit. Will I simply need an AC step down transformer and wire the secondaries into the CD unit, or is there more to it than that? LOL, I've built regulated DC supplies before, but now I need AC power and I just want to make sure there's nothing more. Thanks for your help!

It depends on the exact needs of the unit it's feeding?, but essentially all you should need is a transformer.
