Unhappy mechanical quartz clock schematic

Does anyone have a schematic or plan for a quartz clock circuit. Got the mechanics, just need circuit to drive the stepper. thx Bill

What sort of stepper motor are you using?

A normal stepper motor control circuit should work but you need to drive it from a crystal oscillator.

Use a PIC steper controler and put it to give 60 sgn/s. Or u can design a 555 based cicuit.

A pic might do providing the crystal oscillator is acurate enough, but a 555 timer certainly isn't. The timing capacitor will have a tollerance of 10% before we even consider the long term stability.

I know the 555 timer is crapy but it's quite ok for a DIY project. It wont require a programer and some know how about PIC's. Older cheap quartz clocks (70') used 1 transistor oscilator and a simple motor with some gearing.

He could a CMOS 2Hz CD4060 oscillator using a 32768kHz watch crystal.
