Default kilograms of watts

Anyone know a rough correlation between the weight of a 50 hz toroidal transformer and its power handling capacity? I've got some 24 volt ones, weigh 2kg. I thought I might try 10A, see how hot it gets.

Default Re: kilograms of watts

You're pretty close in your current estimate.

From the information here:

Size, Weight, and No-Load Losses of toroidal transformer

Or here:

Theoretical Size, Weight, and No-load Losses for Toroidal Power Transformers

The estimated power rating of a 2Kg(4.4lb) toroidal transformer will be about 200VA to 220VA.
