Just wanted to make sure if this can be done.
Basically 8 IR tx and rx. The transmitter would transmit 5VDC. At the receiver using a TL071 Op-Amp to bring back the signal to 5VDC.
A card with holes would let a unique bit patern through when insterted between the IR tx and rx.

Should work fine, as long as the card blocks IR!.
