To create pulsing signal you need something like 555 chip or similar.
I guess the lowest component count would be flashing LED and DPDT relay with built in diode, but this might not be robust or reliable enough...

its just a little hobby project, nothing important...

how will I hook up the 555 relay to the other components??? can someone draw a schmatic diagram?

also, are any of the components (relay) on this page? http://www.radioshack.com/category.a...3%5F000&Page=1
thank you

555- values are calculated for 50% duty cycle and about 0.5Hz

You need a DPDT relay. it also has to be powerfull enough, what are the current requirements for your motor?

Your relay must be able to handle much more current then your motor actually requires because reversing a motor on the fly (without braking first) will generate large current spikes

i'm not sure of the motor requirements... it came from a remote-control car that was relatively small. the motor acts like a servo to turn the front wheels, so the motor is very small (2cm x 2cm). i dont know what the current/voltage requirements are for it.

Well, you can always measure the current it uses...

Current consumption will probabely be fairly low for such a small motor

It says 700mA under load. So get a 2A relay to be safe

Also, mind the relays coil voltage. A relay needs a certain voltage for its coil, it would be simplest if you get a relay with the same voltage as you will be feeding your 555 circuit with. Look at the datasheet for your specific 555 to see its maximum suppy voltage...

if you feed it of 12V then this one will do nicely
