Just tried my first post in the Electronic Projects Design/Ideas/Reviews area and get this
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 131072 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/electro-tech-online.com/httpdocs/includes/functions_search.php on line 187 |

Ghosts in the machine? There's a few other users noticing a couple odd problems (unrelated) that have posted, I'm wondering if the PHP software being used isn't overly stable.

I wonder if it's perhaps because the search has been extended to include searching for smaller words? - which uses LOT'S and LOT'S more space and resources!.

That error doesn't make any sense.
8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 131072 bytes) Wtf, so 8MiB has been exhausted because it tried to allocate only 128KiB and both amounts of data are miniscule cosidering the server probably has 2GB of memory (or so I hope). |

Presumably all the servers memory isn't allocated to a single user?.
By the looks of the error message the PHP processor only has 8M available, and the request for an extra 128K has taken it over that limit. |

There again money is probably the issue.
He could always try some more efficient forum software, maybe even some free & open source software. |

Yeah the PHPBB forum that we used to use was a dog compared to this! I've recently increased the Memory allocation from 8M to 16M. If you guys experience this still please paste the error so i can see how much memory was needed for that function.
Thanks for reporting this guys.
