Location gets trimmed
The location under our name in side panel gets trimmed.

Yeah, I have limited the number of chars for the location. It's quite an important change for optimizing for search engines.

Yeah, there's probably 30 different countries that start out with "New Z". It's too ambiguous.

There is always ways to shorten ;-)
"Christchurch New Zealand" is now "Christchurch, NZ".

No, its actually a text box. If you select if and drag you will see all the text is still there. Google does not use text in form elements so the less none electronic related words on the site the better.

It's somewhat ironic because the day before it happened, I removed the city from my location.

Not that it necessarily matters to have the location field, because as we all know, it's usually left blank by new members anyway.
