ElectroMaster, in my honest opinion it's better to focus this sites information and resources on the forum itself. Wikipedia has most things covered already, and Google has the rest covered using even a half assed search phrase. Duplication of information on the Internet is.... prolific to say the least already.

Hi Sceadwian, I do agree with you, that there is too much duplicate content on the internet and this wiki could seem like just that, a duplication. But I do not intend it to be. Let me try to explain my thoughts. Wikipedia even though it is an amazing site, it is simply a large collection of facts and figures, and it isn't styled to "teach". The electronics pages are all VERY technical and that just doesn't help people wanting to learn electronics - well obviously it does a little but not from the ground up. My aim it to allow people to visit the site and really learn step by step, from laymen terms whereas Wikipedia is to find out facts and raw data about something. Maybe I have made a mistake in associating it as a Wiki... However, it's a great debate and I'll listen to all comments about it

You can't teach from a Wiki. You can explain, but you can't teach. I've gotten my fill of information from the Internet more times over than I can possibly ever describe. Wisdom however is not from knowledge it's from trying. I think there there is more information out there than even the most intelligent person can possibly adsorb in a lifetime already. I believe in communities (like forums) and chat rooms to express knowledge, and to allow people to communicate but not web pages, even dynamically updated ones. The best they can do is rephrase information.

Is a forum or community simply rephrasing information also?

If your desire is practical how about circuit wiki rather than electronics wiki. For teaching Allaboutcircuits has a great tutorial, and there are others out there.

In my humble opinion, a well organized directory of existing tutorials would be more usefull than a traditional wiki as so many tutorials, guides and plans are out there. It could be made more usefull by categorical browsing and a search feature, and even more so with a user rating system for the quality of the tutorials and resources. The format could also show how old they were. It would allow users to add any resource they found or created and put in search keys for what it covered. It could be practically merged with a wiki by adding hosting for guides that users also create, which could then be included in the directory. This is my opinion as a newcommer to electronics, I have found a massive amount of guides on anything I could want to learn about, but finding good ones that are complete, up to date, and relevent to my particular ideas is a challegne.
