Yes, its a great feeling to understand this, it really feels awesome. I really loved your explanation about why when R->0, the energy doesnt dissipates. As you said, I now fully understand that when the voltage source is cos(t)u(t), together with the initial condition that i(0-) = 0, which derives i(0+) = 0, the current starts off right where it would normally be in its steady state, therefore there's no DC offset applied on the current.
