I've lost the schematic of the preamp but it was just a normal RIAA preamp. the instructions were clear that it had to be a PCB, not having access to the equipment I did it on matrix board (not the strip kind) and ran transformer wire in the positions that the PCB layout showed, still i was unable to make it work, I just got this weird radio tansmission. it was also coupled to a small power amp with perhaps more cable than recomended so its no wonder starnge things took place. |
It could have been a powerful Shortwave broadcast. Hey, that was a good explanation from MrAl on skin effect. I liked that
It may have been a good design but the board could have caused stray capacitance or something of the sort to create a tank circuit. I wanted to see the schematic because you said it was a small circuit and sometimes accidents lie that could turn out to be something useful. My ears perk up when I hear anything about radio. I rarely get a chance to do anything with it anymore unless I do it myself.
