| Experienced Member | When you test a cap with a ESR meter should the High resistance indicate thet the cap is US. EG I have two 250 v 220uf electrolytic caps. The ESR reading on one is 0.06 The other one is 0.19 Which one is US. Greg |

| New Member | In my experience, high ESR = bad cap. I'm not familiar with what you are referring to by "US". |

| Experienced Member | I just ran a search for 220uf 35volt capacitors. I used 35 volt because I know there are many different types of capacitors at that voltage. I found caps rated at 80mOhm, 150mOhm, 200mOhms, 720mOhm, 800mOhm, 840mOhm. Then there are some caps where the ESR are not states. (real high) At 250 volts I found a small range of ESR. ESR is generally not rated at +/-5% but more like +/-35%, or more. If if often rated as 0.1 ohm max, where typical is not stated. |

| Experienced Member | US is short for unservicable meaning not working. |

| Experienced Member | I thought I saw a big discussion on this earlier. (I must be on drugs.
