That's a good idea. Don't expect our efforts if you can't put in enough effort to explain your project fully.

Default Digital lock

The project is to fashion a metallic box-like safe that will be locked with a 4 digit combination digital lock based on LS7220. The key pad should have 12 buttons. (Actually, i'm coupling the circuit, i'm not the inventor). If the right combination of keys are pressed, the lock opens and remains open for some seconds and then locks again. My major constrains are that i can't see the LS7220 and an electronic lock for it in Nigeria. Diagram http://www.circuitstoday.com/wp-cont...ck-ls-7220.JPG

If you can't get the LS7220 that's a problem. You could try a microcontroller based design but you'd have to learn to program and you may have problems getting that too. Not many businesses will ship to Nigeria.

And what about the Lock, if you don't mind

What happens if you dont shut the door before the lock re-engages?

It would necessitate having to re-enter the code....

Not the best of ideas I'm afraid....

The lock mechanism could be a simple solenoid...Can you get one of them in Nigeria?

Look at these:

ELECTRONIC BOLT LOCK ELECTRIC LOCKS ELECTRIC DEADBOLT ACCESS CONTROL Electromechanical Bolt Locks Electronic Deadbolt

Or else just search for "electric lock"

The chip isn't really made for this application. Your senario would reqire additional logic to keep the lock from engaging while the door was open.

The lock should be i such any way that it can close even if the circuit power output is gone. Just like you can lock some doors without the key but opens it with only the key.

Then you need something like these strike plates.

» Electric Strikes & Magnetic Locks

Won't be as secure as an electric dead bolt, however.

Can't you buy safes in Nigeria? Why does it have to be electronic?
