Velvet Leopard

Hewwo. I got a cool idea while searching through some junk. I found a wireless phone base and hand set and got the idea to use it to wirelessly control a robot. Maybe wire up a custom PCB between my com port (any one possible) and the base and use it to transmit instructions to the hand set wired to another PCB on the robot. Would this kind of endeavor be worth the work and would it be an efficient way to remotely control a bot from the comp? Thankies for the help. The leopard murrrrs.
