Question Need LED Circuit

OK Folks, here goes,

I am a 61 year old rookie and I need a 12vdc circuit that will light 6 LEDs in order, turn them off and start all over again. I'm not sure how to do this, but I will try to give you a step by step diagram: 1= on 0=off

Step 1 000001
Step 2 000011
Step 3 000111
Step 4 001111
Step 5 011111
Step 6 111111
Step 7 000000

Then the circuit repeats.

My guess is there is someone out there that can design a circuit that will do just about anything, except maybe fix a rainy day.

Thanks

Bog easy with almost any microcontroller.

You could invert 7 outputs of a 4017. Use 6 of them to trigger a 555 bistable
and the 7th to reset them.

My idea was similar to Colin's but involved driving a 4094 shift register from a 555 astable to do the dirty deed. Then you don't need to invert the outputs, but you'd need to use the final (7th) output to reset the counter.

If you have the skill to write and the hardware to program. Not likely in the case of a first timer.

Hi Papaharry582,

If you search the forum you'll find more circuits than
you can handle. Here's one of many.

If you move the reset from Q1B to Q3B you can add two extra leds.

Thanks All,

on1aag, I'll give it a try. It will be a learning experience for me, but maybe learning something will keep my two active brain cells from turning to stone.
