I thought that because they are stated @ 11000-15000mcd then they would be alot brighter?

Yes but the viewing angle is very small so they will produce six very dim spots.

The catalogue page linked below shows the sort of LEDs I'm talking about, but they need mounting on a good heatsink or they'll blow.

Yeah saw your recommendation, thanks but wouldnt work for me as the 6 g4 bulbs are like in their own pods & i simply wanted to try & insert the leds in the same manner without having to cannibalise the lamp as it belongs to the missus & dont want to cause any upsets.
Thanks for the help but will have to leave it as it is, until the technolgy advances abit more where you can simply replace g4 bulbs with push in leds.
