Binary decoder - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

So i am working with a 0804 chip (8 bit binary output) and i only have a basic knowledge of TTL. I need to output this on 7-segment displays 0-255. The only decoder i have really worked with is the 7447, 7448. I know enough to know that you cant use a BCD decoder for binary or you get the lovely odd symbols for 10-15. The only idea i have is for a binary to BCD decoder of some sort then use the 7447. but is there any way i can get this to work for 3 displays(0-255). Any help would be great.

Or use an ADC that outputs the data already BCD encoded for 7 segment displays:

do you know of any way that i could use the 74185 or the full adder to run 3 displays instead of 2?

The info is in the datasheet for the 74185.
