Do you mean Protector?
You might want to buy one, so much simpler to buy than to try and make. |

Your spelling is horrible.
Lightning is thousands of amps from a big spark from the sky. Lighting is lights. Nobody knows what is called a "protcator". It might be a protector. Some lightning and surge protectors are good, and others don't work. I don't use one because I don't get lightning very often and I turn off my computer and TV when I do, and I don't have surges.

Surge protectors are mass produced. Just buy one. Theres no way your going to make a better one or a cheaper one.
They are all automatic. How would a manual one work?

Isn't a "protcator" used by a proctologist? Or do I have that confused with another specialist?

That's like Flick from "A Christmas Story" putting his tongue on a frozen pole in the middle of winter.

A lightning protector is a kite with a copper string.

hmmm, why protect lightnings? They protect themselves.
Try to catch one and you'll see what happens. |

I have seen and heard lightnings fighting with each other for possession of a territory. Their fighting made a lot of noise and bright lights.

you must have misunderstood what the lightnings were doing. They decided to give you a great show. I'm missing the real good lightnings which you normally can observe in mountainous terrain. Over flat land they look like sparks. (of course slightly bigger than that of a spark plug, just slightly) |

Hi pasun,
the most effective and natural lightning protection is very cheap and you can make it yourself. Plant some fast growing trees, e.g. eucalytus around your home. Don't plant them too close. When a lightning strikes one of them it will burst in many small parts like a huge explosion and fall on your house. I have 25m high palm trees around my house and there is no reason why a lightning should select a detour using my house instead of using a tree if it has decided to ground itself. Most lightnings however discharge within clouds. Boncuk |

1. Public mains to your equipment 2. Antenna protection in case RF use In the first case it is best to have protectors mounted at the incoming point of your mains and connect a perfect ground over there. added to that you may have a spike buster type power strip with ground wire connected properly. from this strip you may take power. In the absence of preliminary protection, and if you happen ti live around hilly region or lightening prone zones, trying to protect at the last point won't be much of use. Protection from lightening and spikes is rather a wide subject and those who are able to protect themselves and their equipment are lucky and and perhaps could come forward and share their thoughts as to how to be effective in protection techniques.
