What can I use to amplify this ... - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

My friend has a portable casette and fm player, he only just found out that his earphone was not functioning so he snip off the war phone piece and strip of the cable. Th cable in it contains 2 wires so heconnect it to a 4 inch speaker and sound is heard but the sound was very soft even at full volume, so what can I use to amplify the sound and make it louder?

hi there kevinlo, at what wattage are you comtemplating, 1.5w, 5w, 10w or higher. there are lots of amp design in the web using discrete components ir IC amps. check out this website: http://www.discovercircuits.com or http://www.electronics2000.co.uk
I also have a schematic that uses IC as input and 4 transistors as output. this one is very simple and easy to assemble specially if you are new to building amps. I also got this from the web, just forget where just have have to review it. it has 10w output. have tried it and its ok.

hi there, what power output do you plan to have,do you want a small amp 1.5w to 15w, or a medium power amp 20w to 80w or the in the hundreds. there are lots of amp design in the web just take your pick, of couse sound quality not guaranteed. here a couple of site you can visit, http://www.discovercircuits.com & http://www.electronics2000.co.uk

i have a circuitry for a 10w amp using IC as input and transistors as output. i got it from the web but i forgot where, i will just have to check my files. this one i have tried and i could say it was ok.

You can make an amp that can give up to 80W in 4ohm or 50W into 8ohm
with the TDA7294. It only needs a few extra components and is very small

(I have made a pcb layout that fits 2 of them (stereo) on a board not bigger then 10 by 4.5 cm)

It plays quite well with the setup displayed on page1 of the datasheet.

Are you sure this cassette/fm player is only mono, one earpiece ? not stereo headphones?

What do you want to power this amplifier from ? if the mains is available a deafening 80W amp may be what you want...
If a tiny battery is all you will have then a 100mW (typical pocket radio volume) would be more realistic.
