Help needed: IR controller for fan and light - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

Hi!! I'm new to elctronics and don't know much about this. But i have an idea to do of my own.

To control the Fan and tube light in my room using wireless. My idea is to use a IR. Pls help me..

You could get a microcontroller, and use it to make a code of pulses for the transmitter (controller), and another microcontroller for the reciever, that only will activate with the code.
Many microcontrollers have an easy code for pulses.

Nigels PIC tutorial has what you need.

Uses an old Sony remote and and a PIC with an IR reciever.

But you need to start at the start....

There is a pretty good APP note on the Microchip web sight for a dimmer, and for IR comms. You could use this as a starting point, I made something similar some time ago but I'm not sure where the code is now. When you say "new to electronics" just how new are you ?
