Hi all, I feel the need to make the usb to serial port converter.. Can anybody help.. Also, how can i get the software to install this hardware device.. Regards, Simran..

You can buy the chips (SM chips), and download the free software drivers for them, but it's probably as cheap to just buy a readymade converter?.

Have a look here then: http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/FT232BM.htm But all you're doing is duplicating what's inside a ready built one, so it's not what I would consider 'experimenting'. If you want to 'experiment'?, then get a USB capable 18F series PIC, and write a program and drivers to use it as a USB/Serial converter. | |
