ive built solid state transistor amps in the past, but i wanted something different, i am aware that the output transformer is the most important thing, and i know that you can pay quite alot for a good one, i have never built a valve amp before, and thats another reason why i wanted to build one, alot of people i know have their own opinions on valves, some older people tend to like valves, others, perfer only a valve preamp, and my generation perfer transistors, mosfets etc, which are good, but they are unaware of any old technology, i thought this would be a fun project for me to do since i have never built any valve amps, although i have repaired several older valve stereos.

 

What is the amp actually going to be used for?, is it for guitar in a band?, unless you're miking the drums through the PA a 120W valve guitar amp is probably going to completely drown the drums out. 'Turn it down' would be the obvious comment, but that prevents you getting the sound you're looking for!, you're looking for running it flat out and clipping the output stage.

i will be using it i a band, will probably use a pickup in the drums, but that probably will be plugged into another amp
