Default Pic programmer

I've built 2 Serial Pic programmers and none worked. I stumbled upon this schematic for a Parallel port programmer and hoping if someone can tell me if it works ?

I got it from this site :

Why not read the 'sticky' in the micro-controller forum?, it has links to many programmer circuits.

You can buy an Assembled programmer by the guys that make the PIC's, and its guaranteed to work for almost every PIC you use!

Available for $34.95 from Microchip

Notice that it's cased, and even uses USB (so its great for laptops etc), and it comes with;

A series of twelve lessons are provided that cover I/O, interrupts, A/D converters, data tables and timers, with an additional lesson covering debugging features. All source code for the lessons is furnished. It's all in Assembler, but that's a great building block leading up to higher languages.

btw, it's $12 shipping to anywhere in the world
