Dear All,

I have an Application in which i get 5A ( Can go upto 20A) from a CT. Now i need to convert the same to 5V for my Control Circuit, kindly guide any solution for the same

If the C.T. gives out 5A (or anything like that) I assume it is a raw AC signal, is your control circuit happy with 5v AC or does it require rectifying as well ?

What about linearity or is this some simple trip amp application?

At its simplest a 1ohm resistor will produce 5v for a current of 5A but it is going to get HOT

That's quite a bit if current from a CT. If you drop it across a 1 ohm resistor, that's 5VAC RMS. Of course, its a power resistor. That 5VAC can be rectified and filtered, but for detection schemes, will be greater than 5VDC due to peak values.

Does the 5V for your control circuit need to be AC or DC?
