code bar detector - Electronic Circuits Projects Diagrams Free

i´m projecting a system to final semester project and i think to use a detector of code bars. However, i don´t know how project this circuit. Please help me!

Do you mean a barcode? Do you want to build a barcode scanner? The circuits are common enough. Even Radio Shack gave a mouse looking barcode scanner away for free some time ago.
What part of your design are you trying to protect? Bury it in black epoxy is one way to protect a circuit.

you're right! i mean barcode. I wrote wrong. The site have many things but, i don't find what i need. I need to do a barcode scanner to read barcodes of books. You have any idea where i find this??

Hi,
There are two parts to this,
1/ detect the optical pattern and convert it to an electrical signal
2/ decode the electrical signal into a (ASCII) data stream
Hewlett Packard (now Avago) make a range of detection and decoding components, HEDSxxxx & HBCRxxxx

You could also use a microprocessor (Pic 8051 etc) to do the decoding.

How do final year (term, semester, whatever) EE students not know how to start a project? Towards the end of my 2nd year (4 total) of college, I remember implementing pattern recognition using flip-flops and Karnaugh maps as a homework assignment, not a full project.

Has the average curriculum (world-wide) gotten so easy that you don't have to think for yourself anymore?

the problem isn't the easy curriculum in my case. The problem is the Director of my course that implements this type of final project and don´t give us support to project, either the coordinators of the project. Have another problem too. I study Telecommunications and the course have few topic on design Eletric and Eletronic Circuits. However, i agree with you idea.
