looks fairly straightforward. your load should not exceed 1A, and you will need a heat sink on the regulator. the cap across the output (C5) isn't critical, and you could probably go as high as 1000uF.

Comments, Advice, ETC - Power Supply Design
So, I'm doing a little digging for some power supply schematics and came up with this one.
Given the...reputation...of circuits pulled off Google, I thought it would be a good idea to get a little feedback on this picture. I've seen a lot of circuits scrutinized, and before I even think about doing anything with it, I would love to know beforehand if there were any errors or if there could be any helpful mods.
