I need to regulate 12volts down to 10volts DC. The 12 volts is comming from a vehicle so the range would be from 11v or less min input to 20v or more max input. But it has to be 10v regulated out.

Looks like you need a switch mode regulator, what sort of current are you needing?. For that matter, what device is it needed to feed, and how accurate and stable does it need to be?.
