Default Looking for a multipin connector that can withstand rough environments.

I'm looking for a 28-38 pin round connector & plug designed for field use. All sorts of weather conditions and rough handling.
Also looking for a tough single wire connector (binding post) and plug.

This sort of thing

Is there a better solution than a binding post?

hi Bill,
Those mil spec round connector pairs and cable clamps are quite expensive.
They come in metal and plastic versions.

Are you asking for the Part Numbers, they are made by Cannon and Amphenol amongst others.

Thanks Eric, yes they're expensive but so's the gear they're going into. The users claim they can bust those metal military ones easy enough and want to know if there is anything tougher!

IMO the black plastic versions are more robust.

The metal ones break around the shroud if dropped.

How many are you after.?

hi Bill,

This is the plastic version from Bulgin, I used the mini-bucanner types in marine evironments with no problems.

For harsh and saline environment, the metal body type connector will only live for an year or two, unless special protective paints like ship-black are applied.

We always faced problems with Iron and copper open wire line in sea cost areas, disappearing due to salt corrosion. even though they never carry any DC potential. Power side also witches and bulb holders get metal corrosion and needed frequent replacements.

Perhaps, Anodized Aluminum might work, Teflon bodies may be better. Teflon based protective coated ans plastic versions might work
BTW, we may have to see the mechanical sturdiness of plastic shell connectors in hostile environments ( storms around sea coast and -ve temperatures in cold areas and too high temps of desert areas)

They look like Amphenol made connectors to me, Bill.

These Trident Neptune parts are pretty robust.
