Default Packages TO-92 TO-92-3 3-TO-92

We all know a TO-92 when we see it.

What are TO-92-3 and 3-TO-92
are they the same.

Did a quick look around and could not find this.

Well, I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it's just a proprietary convention to indicate TO-92 with three pins.

Having all those different packages seems pretty pointless; I don't know why the manufacturers just don't stick with the plain old TO-92.

The different style of pinouts allow board manufactors to tune their PCBs better, some board layouts might cause a standard TO-92 to require a via or jumper to connect it to it's proper spot. Change the pinout and the leads will route correctly and more neatly.
