this is a 8 pin surface mount chip in a jvc dvd recorder's power supply,
it seems to fed the 5v line to the dvd writer,
the logo on the chip is like /\\
any help pls.

I think it might be Maxim-IC.com . I too have just started looking as my DVD recorder just started flashin 'Loading'. I only have 2.9V on 5V pin of dvd writer so maybe we have the same fault. I think the 665 may be a power supply monitoring IC (ICL7665) or a voltage converter Max665 (obsolete and replaced by 1680). Will let you know once I have looked more closely.
