Default Universal battery holders

Good day folks!

I'm looking for a more universal battery holder for the battery charger that I am building. Obviously I wont be able to fit all battery types into one battery holder. I'm looking for:

1. A holder that will accept both AA and AAA sized batteries.
2. A seperate holder that will accept both C & D sized batteries.

Who knows, maybe there is a universal battery holder out there that will hold all 4 sizes listed above?

Does anyone know of any place that sells universal battery holders? I've searched several places (Digikey, Circuit Specialists, All Electronics, Mouser, Radio Shack, Google etc.) and didn't find anything suitable.

If you are just making one of something, try lookiing for a battery tester, they often have a holder with a sliding piece to accomodate different length AA, AAA, C, D size cells, and then have a connector for 9v batteries. You could canabalize one for the holder and use the meter for charging status.

Very nice idea Zevon, I was actually thinking of adding a meter circuit but was pondering how to go about this, as well as making a universal battery holder. I may use this concept and tweak it a little.

Thanks for your inspiration!
