That's not all! Global warming is also slowed by arabic countries towing glaciers from the polar regions to their countries for drinking water.

WWIII will not take place for political power or territory. It will take place fighting for water!

Despite that, the Gulf stream (ocean conveyor) will stop only if we can manage to blow up our beautiful blue planet.

You know there saying it's going to get colder now for maybe the next 10 years then start
to get hot agin.

Funny thing about the article. It says the hottest year on record was in 1998. (true) Then it goes on to suggest that things have since cooled down, and in no year since has the temperature been especially warm. It ignors the very fact that, although the temperature has not exceeded the 1998 record, years since have been very warm.

Quote:
Here are the top 10 hottest years on record:

1998 - 32.94 degrees Fahrenheit (0.52 degrees Celsius)
2005 - 32.86 degrees Fahrenheit (0.48 degrees Celsius)
2003 - 32.83 degrees Fahrenheit (0.46 degrees Celsius)
2002 - 32.83 degrees Fahrenheit (0.46 degrees Celsius)
2004 - 32.77 degrees Fahrenheit (0.43 degrees Celsius)
2006 - 32.76 degrees Fahrenheit (0.42 degrees Celsius)
2007 - 32.74 degrees Fahrenheit (0.41 degrees Celsius)
2001 - 32.72 degrees Fahrenheit (0.40 degrees Celsius)
1997 - 32.65 degrees Fahrenheit (0.36 degrees Celsius)
1995 - 32.5 degrees Fahrenheit (0.28 degrees Celsius)

That sort of ommission is the very junk science I've been writing about.

1998 0.52 degrees Celsius ????????????????

Hot ????????????????????

That's just half a degree above freezing.

Doesn't sound like the best source for information.

As it's presumably to do with melting of the ice caps, it's presumably a measure of temperatures at the polar ice cap?.

Not to worry since nature always compensates somewhere, somehow. For example, the Great lakes area has increasingly become a polar region in and of itself. Heck, right now outside my window there is an accumulation of snow on the ground with more on the way! Looks like I might as well pack my beach umbrella, towel, and sun-block lotion and move to An tarctica.

Yes, Mother Earth will eventually make the weather so bad, it will kill off the infection causing the problem. A global fever if you will.

Too bad we're the infection.

There has been many mass extinctions in the history of the Earth. It's rather naive to believe is can't happen again.

Try to keep in mind that this is gobal temperatures. We're not only talking about the tempreate regions where most people live.

The point, of course, it these are the warmest temps on record. If you don't like the source, then find a better one. I gaurentee you won't find any reputable records that show what the article suggested. Look at the graph here: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0116114150.htm Clearly, the article was dilaberately misleading.

O.K. So if you are talking global temperatures, why show temperature examples from one small area of the globe.

Globally the so called temperate regions including the oceans and seas (which have a great impact on global temperature) are many times greater than the polar regions, that your temperature list seems to come from.

These are global figures and are based on average temperatures.

hi,
If there is any doubt the overall global temperature is rising look at this NASA link.

Global Temperature

I guess these guys what they are talking about.

Extract:
Quote:
Summary

Based on science from the IPCC 4th Report, and consistent with observed increases in global temperature, there have been:

- decreases in the length of river and lake ice seasons.

- worldwide reduction in glacial mass and extent in the 20th century.

- melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet has recently become apparent.

- snow cover has decreased in many Northern Hemisphere regions.

- sea ice thickness and extent have decreased in the Arctic in all seasons.

- the oceans are warming

- sea level is rising due to thermal expansion of the oceans and melting of land ice.

The rapid rise in global temperature is unmatched in the last million years. Normally, and when the Earth has warmed after an ice age, it is a gradual process taking about 5,000 years.

A million years? Wow... That 's a completely pointless number =) The earth is 5 BILLION years old, looking at a 1 million year time scale and drawing a hundred year conclusion is completely idiotic =O We don't even have accurate climate data for the last 100 years, scientists are at BEST guessing at what's going on.

There are methods that can be used to determine atmospheric conditions over the last million years. It's not pointless, as this data shows the temperature and humidity conditions for a very long and important time in Earth's history. They can be correlated with sample data taken today to show how things have changed, and what natural and unnatural cycles are responsible.

The only thing that's idiotic is ignoring the story the Earth is telling.
