Like I posted in another thread, to me it's become entartaining. I can understand and tolerate poor grammar and sentence structure from foreigners, but asking us to virtually do their assignment(s) for them is another thing considering they offer nothing of proof that they've even undergone an effort part way. If the Admin. believes it to be a real problem or waste of bandwidth, let them delete and such, Until then, sit back and chuckle at the slap-stick comedy.

Yes, i would love to "chuckle at the slap-stick comedy", but PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY HELPING THE B@STARDS! If nobody would help them, then i wouldn't mind so much, but the little weasels are getting what they want!?!?!

I agree... don't call them bastards, you bastage! Who pissed in your Corn Flakes this morning? As far as folks here helping them, I don't see any real efforts being shelled out. The typical response from us is "can you give us more info. to go on", " be more specific with your requirements" and the ever popular reply, "I'll get back to you with a possible answer after I learn the north-central dialect of Botswanland Swahili".

If people really are helping lazy bums who can't be bothered to do (or even title) their own projects then they're an even bigger fool than the lazy university bum aren't they! Brian |

One of the greatest parts of Electronics as a hobby, is the challenge of solving problems. I think this is why so many people jump in to help out, the great race to be the first with the best solution.
Personally, I don't know which I find more annoying. The ones that need urgent help on a 'mystery' project, for which they seem to have no clue what they want it to do, just have X number of days to complete one. Or when a well define request is made, by an obvious novice, and the first reply is "you could do that with a PIC...". Someday, I will get started with microcontrollers (probably not the PIC), but I think its overkill, almost like you could do it off your paralell port. If its a single input, single output why bother with a microcontroller? To save a few chips, that are probably sitting in a drawer... Really not much of a solution for someone new to electronics, or hasn't used microcontrollers. It would take a couple of months to learn this stuff in your spare time. |

Well, if they fail the class, then they'll either have to re-take it, and hopeful learn something the second or third time through, or at least it'll be one less bum in the work place...

You have forgotten about the many other forum users who do not have the best solution to the lazy student's problem in their minds but then learned from the solutions/suggestions posted. I sure do.

The next time someone asks one of these questions I post them a schematic involving two microwave oven transformers connected to a pair electrodes on a belt they can wrap around their chest.

Wow, I hate to say it but this is a most uncharitable thread. I don't want to help the lazy students but I also think outright abuse is unwarrented. A lot of them seem to not have very good english skills so it's not suprising that they don't come off as properly respectfull. Culturally, I suspect they approach us like they approach their teachers so asking for help is more like a "hello, I have a question" than a request for a complete project dump. this is why some of them come off as obsequeous.
I think we should be a bit slower to pull out the Colt 6-shooter and plug 'em. Perhaps the proper first response is "what are you trying to do? explain in more detail" rather than "drop off the face of the earth, scum". if they fail to give detail then ignore them or, better yet, explain the situation to them. edit: fixed attrocious gammer... Yes, but 99% of them never reply back. They just want a quick, no-hassle answer. Is that cheap or what? They should at least do a little work! Sure, it is nice to be lazy once in while, but not when it comes to your homework. Notice i said "your homework"? This mean that is is theirs, and not ours. A few pointers would be ok, like "Oh, you could add a cap here or a resistor there", but not "Here is the complete schematic, enjoy your A, and have a great life!". I can't stand that.

or perhaps they are scared off? I would try elsewhere if I got such a nasty reception, wouldn't you?
