Default Make a chat room?

Ok guys im looking into making myself a java based chat room...nothing too fancy but it must be free and anyone can chat in it

any ideas on where to get started with it?

....i have no ideas or skills in this line of work.

need to know java

ok the main thing u will need to know is how to build multithreaded appl and socket commn: is it a general chat system or one-to-one.?

just for an example i want it to be a chat like at this link...

kids chat seems to be the only one working for me today...so try that one and give it time to load.

Why Java?, why not PHP or Perl?, which most server-side programs run under.

he (may have) decided the client side to be java .. and server be something else.
but with more support for xml, i'd prefer ajax for a chat system.
