Hi,
Has anyone seen those new flashlight that work off a little coil and magnet. I saw it the other day, it was one of the sixty second comercial that don't tell much about the product. You don't have to use batteries, just shake the light and presto. The coil is inside the flashlight tube, wound the lenght of the tube. Their's a little ball magnet inside. So when you shake it, the magnet moves up and down. Producing electricity. It has not have a battery on it some place that gets charged. Thought it was a neet idea if anyone cared. Why didn't I think of that! Regards D.J.

What could be better than making a ton of money off something you made.
If it works well, it would be very handy. My Mom does the paper route and is always having trouble keeping her battery charged, and or, buying new ones. So's my Dad who also works night shifts. Hopefully it's something I could build so they both have a good light. Regards D.J.

as good and cool and powerfull as the shaker is , it is inherently flawed.

although i see an application for the shaker, for somone that lives near water it could generate a bit of power from wave action..

Those "Flash lights" sounded good to me some time ago, but I heard their light is so weak, and they are so expensive, that you can buy tons of standart bateries, and it will still be cheaper than this "Magical Flash Light".

On the commercial the flashlight was suposed to stay lit for a while with only a little shaking.
They even had a police officer on there supporting the light. Trying to make it look better than it really is! But something like that should work if you used the right size of coil and a strong neodenom( rare earth magnet ) magnet. D.J.

There was another thread on this subject a loooong time ago:
http://www.electro-tech-online.com/v...37fffeff46dfe0 that one got a little in depth, and someone with one of the flashlights was able to take some good pictures of us and tell us what components it used. i was gonna sum up what that thread said here, but you might as well just read the entire thing. 8) |

Saw a "shaker flashlight" at the Sharper Image store once...4 super bright white LEDs...shake for about a minute and you could shine in for a few minutes across the store and see the spot clearly on the other side in full daylight.
