Well, for those who are interested, here's the code for the PIC which will be controlling and displaying my multimeter. Ok so it's probably rubbish code (apart from the bits kindly contributed by others, thanks!). Still got work to do getting d.p. positions correct with regards to functions - and I haven't written any code to handle ohms ranges yet, so that's completely missing. But all the main stuff and the volts ranges are sorted out. Still haven't worked out how to use the simulator on MPLABX yet, nor have I tried burning this to the actual PIC - started writing code before I'd finished making a programmer, and now packing up to move house so not doing any hardware at the moment - keep getting bits and pieces and they just have to go in a box. Very frustrating! Code is too long to publish in line, so attached as .asm file.
Edit - since the big ETO server crash, Electromaster has asked me to re-upload the file. It's bigger than the original - don't know what I've changed since it's a while since I worked on it. Just so you know.
