Wasn't it Mencken who said "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

Thumbs up

This is the kind of nonsense that conspiracy nuts see and believe (having no knowlege of electricity or physics), and it makes them even more nutty.
Why throw insults around at certain countries or nationalities, this video makes no reference to any country or people.

no its just that some countries have a more gullible culture, italians have very little practicality 99 % of students that do a tech school for electronics don't even know ohms law and ignorance is the seed for beleif in crap, then if you really want to wow them just play with their minds and religion they fall hard and fast there,

personally i think the internet should be highly censored, freedom of speech is great so long as it is not abused, stupid and misleading things should be removed, if people want to act like children they will have to be treated like children

I've heard that one before.

Fair enough censorship is sometimes good but it's more often used for bad rather than good. The Internet is already censored to some extent for example child porn is not allowed. Overall censorship is bad because it means that governments and powerful businesses can stop people learning of the truth prevent people from challengling them - it's a slippery slope!

If people believe this kind of crap it's their fault, if they're searching through the Internet they should be able to find the truth anyway, if they just choose to believe the lies then it's their problem.

thats true too i know censorship can be dangerous but frankly youtube should have removed that but no they are more interested in having another page to show adverts on it all comes down to money, and by the way the net is not so censored at all ok child [WORD CENSORED] is probably the only thing that get looked up, you go and google for a crack to activate nero burning rom, there are a host of warez sites offering not the crack but to buy the whole deal already cracked from them for 1/3 the price and the have abvious addresses like warezdownloads, funny that there are loads of them and they are running with no problems there's no checking done on the web at all it's free range for fraudsters, before censorship is even considered we need police patrols its not like you need a 007 investigation to unveil warez and illigal [WORD CENSORED] sites

This topic has also highlighted another point about censorship, it stifles debate. For example the word porn is censored on these forums which makes parts of your post hard to understand. Although I don't like the censorship I can understand your post and there is a way to get round it by using tags but imagine if they decided to sensor words like communism, Nazi and nuclear!

I'm not talking such censorship but intelligent removal of offending material and stupidity if you were to post erotic stuff on youtube it would be removed real fast but that thing has been there for months

Nigel and I have discussed this before and we agree to disagree.

I never use such words on this forum unless I'm having a serious discussion.

I don't mind other words being banned but the word "porn" is not a swear word therefore it shouldn't be on the list of censored words. There are more offensive words which aren't on the list of censord words which I've seen on these forums and I'm not going to repeat them.

I can see the argument that it might help the moderators but in my experiance from other forums, most pornographic posts don't even contain the word "porn" but links to porn sites or use other errotic language such e.g. "Click below to see busty topless babes.".

It's not my site, I'm just a moderator, so I have no control over the list of banned words - and I presume it's just the default list that comes with the forum software?. As such I have no real opinion on the matter, and wil just support the forums actions, so deliberate evasion of the banned words filter will result in a ban - short term for a first offence.

you can always add the evaded versions of the words to the ban list but it is a bit redicolous to ban the word in question as a word it is not offensive it just describes a genere of material

In the system software, only the administrator has access to it.
